Average daily gain on Reap farms

These are averages across all the cattle Reap has monitored, by weight band. They come from real farms, so use them as a guide, not a target. Choose "Use these figures" to fill in daily gain.

Where to find your own numbers

  • Price: use your latest merchant invoice or quote. For home-grown feed, use its value or what it costs you to produce. If you buy it bagged, choose the bag size.
  • Amount fed: weigh what you feed over a few days and divide by the number of animals. For silage, weigh what goes out and what is left.
  • Daily gain: take the weight now, subtract the weight at the start, and divide by the days between. If you have not weighed, use a guide figure.
  • Days on feed: count from the day you start feeding to the day you plan to sell.
  • If you know dry matter (DM): divide the DM kg by the DM percentage to get fresh weight. For example, 8 kg DM at 30% DM is about 27 kg fresh.

Revolutionised our farm operations

"It's a game-changer for efficiency and profitability. Our feed usage is optimised, animals are healthier, and we're seeing remarkable improvements in weight gain."

Edna Curley - Principle, Mountbellew Agricultural College

Aligned our farming practices with our goals

"It's reassuring to know our efforts are contributing positively while also improving our bottom line through more efficient resource use."

Richard Kennedy - Suckler to Beef

Became a cornerstone of our welfare practices

"This technology has not only enhanced the wellbeing of our herd but also driven down the age at slaughter, boosting our farm's profitability sustainably."

Niall Kenny - Beef Finisher

Turning potential losses into measurable gains

"Relying on herd averages lets profitability slip through the cracks. BovinePlus identifies the uniqueness of each animal, allowing us to make informed, tailored, management decisions."

Eric Reid - Beef Finisher

Not sure where to start?

Our farmers start with Plus. Calf farmers go straight to Junior. Not sure, just get in touch and we’ll point you in the right direction.

Nope! Reap works passively as cattle go about their normal day. Nothing is attached to the animal and nothing changes about how you run your farm.

Bovine Plus and Bovine Grade each cover up to 60 animals per unit. Bovine Junior covers up to 75 calves. Additional units can be installed across larger pens or multiple groups.

In our experience issues are rare but if something ever does not look right, you can pick up the phone and we are there. Our team handles everything from first call to fix.

Farms are not always in the most connected corners of the country and we know that better than anyone! Reap runs on its own mobile network so no WiFi is needed, and solar power for outdoor setups means no cables and no mains required. Wherever your farm is, Reap works.
